Most people have this belief that content lies somewhere outside. Outside here means out of your own being. Something tangible, something that you can have, buy or acquire by some means. Whether its money, power or in service of others.
They think that content, happiness, satisfaction, success, peace, love all are external things which are needed to be acquired, won over by doing something, or sacrificing some part of yourself. It cannot be more untrue.
Although those things will give you satisfaction but it will never be everlasting. What I mean by content is the persistent feeling of being at peace with one’s own inner self.
Content is not a destination. Its is the journey. Same goes for happiness, peace and virtue. Such concepts or beliefs have to be practiced in daily life. It’s a way of living.
Reaching a goal doesn’t give your inner soul content but temporal gratification.
True peace and freedom comes from within.
In order to be free from this external world and its eternal loop of life and death, one must come to a conclusion with themselves. You can’t change the outside. Maybe temporarily but that’s an illusion. An illusion of time. Everything will fall and fail with time. Whatever was born in time, will die in time. Whatever was created in time, will be destroyed in time.
One must realise that ‘they’ are nobody and nothing, but a reflection of time. Action and reactions of themselves and others. You’re not outside of time but bound by it. You cannot be free from it unless time decides so itself. The only thing you have control over is, your actions.
Your actions are result of your thoughts.
Your thoughts and consciousness is subjected to your surroundings. You are not yourself but the resultant of all the things that happened before you and will happen after you. Time is not linear. It’s a circle. That’s why it’s never ending. What seems like end is another beginning.
If you truly want to change anything outside or win the world, you must first change from within and win yourself first.
